Performed as part of Langley Band’s award-winning 2026 Wychavon Festival of Brass entertainment set, which received the Most Entertaining award:
Mousetrap! is a wild, wacky and whimsical percussion solo for xylophone and vibraphone. The frantic sections and title of the piece take inspiration from Agatha Christie’s long-running play, “The Mousetrap”, where the characters are trapped inside during a blizzard while being investigated for a murder. Comical percussive effects inspired by Tom and Jerry are used throughout and a short interlude sees a Film Noir-inspired smokey alleyway soundscape that is often associated with murder mystery.
